CSU Stanislaus

Young me would look at current me with big, wide, bright, googly eyes. Last week I was a visiting artist at CSU Stanislaus! THANK YOU Marty Azevedo for the invitation. I presented work and gave talks about my process to 4 separate groups of students. There was also a more formal artist talk presentation. A definite highlight was being given the opportunity to print a new edition! THANK YOU Alexander Quinones for all your efforts and hard work to help me see this fireball-casting wizard come to life.

This was the first time I printed an edition on Rives BFK, black, to utilize the natural color of the sheet as the shadows; instead of printing those elements.

Printers Roundtable: A Discussion by and for Colorado Printmakers

THANK YOU to the RiNo Art District for asking me to facilitate this round-table discussion about the needs of the printmaking artist community here in Denver.

Join RiNo Art District and artist Gregory Santos for a round-table discussion on printmaking. What are the greatest strengths and resources in the Colorado printmaking community? How can we foster community, access to materials, and connection during times of transition (e.g. graduation)? What vision do we have for the future printmaking ecosystem?

Big Draw Colorado

Tonight is the opening reception of the Big Draw Colorado exhibition at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities!

On view: June 8, 2023 through August 27, 2023.

I'm chuffed to not only be included alongside so many talented artists in this comprehensive exhibit focused on drawing but to also have my work selected for some of their promotional material.

As part of the gallery’s audio tour, you may listen to me talk about my drawing at this link.

What is a drawing? In this juried group exhibition, the Arvada Center Galleries invited contemporary Colorado artists to submit works that celebrate the traditional roots of drawing and challenge preconceived definitions of drawing through explorations in rendering, mark-making, gesture, abstraction, realism, form, medium, and beyond.

With 77 works from 71 artists, Big Draw Colorado illustrates the vast world of drawing across the state.

Artist Talk β€” Western Wilds Virtual Conference

It was a real pleasure to be asked to present a slide show via zoom as part of the Western Wilds Collective Virtual Conference, part of Mo’Print 2022. I gave a forty minute presentation about Mixed Grit followed by another forty minutes of Q&A. That was fun!

Thank you to the conference organizers, Alanna Austin and Eve Kruger for this opportunity.

Art Gym Printmaking Members Exhibition

In conjunction with Denver’s Month of Printmaking (Mo’Print), I selected work from 18 of Art Gym’s 30 printmaking members to make up this exhibit. It’s always an enjoyable opportunity to review and select prints for this show. The variety of printmakers at Art Gym is robust, and the print media on display showcases that variety.
