Impressed: Upside Down

It was an honor and privilege to be the juror for the exhibit Impressed: Upside Down, the fourth in a series of national juried printmaking exhibitions in the Art Gym Gallery. As part of the Month of Printmaking this exhibit brings together prints from 30 artists across the country. The work is tied together by the strange and often surreal idea of everything being connected. Plants, animals, the earth, and humankind all began at the same place. Through change and choices, evolution and environment, we have arrived where we are today.

From the Archives

I discovered this forgotten lithograph of mine while organizing prints in a flat file. What a joy to see it again! This six color, plate lithograph is from a print trade I participated in with my fellow printers at the Tamarind Institute in 2007. Two flats, three layers of spray paint, and one toner wash. I’ve no memory if the toner was suspended in alcohol or water.

I was asked to be the guest facilitator of this months Creatives At Roundish Tables discussion. The topic I chose to present was “Falling on the Social Sword - How should you genuinely tackle self-promotion in a vast, crowded, competitive, social media market without giving away everything for free?”

Thank you to all the participants who wanted to dive in and tackle the nitty-gritty of social media!
