Biography

 

Gregory Santos was born in Rockville Centre, New York and is the second son of two art
teachers. His introduction, training, and involvement in the arts began at home when he
was a child.


Gregory earned his BFA from Syracuse University ('02), spent the spring of 2001 in
Florence, Italy studying the Italian Renaissance, and earned his MA from New York
University ('06). Gregory completed the Printer Training Program at the Tamarind
Institute for lithography in 2007.

He has worked professionally as a letterpress printer, book binder, book conservator, and
fine art silk screen printer. He is currently in the beginning stages of opening his own
printmaking atelier - Tar Beach Press.


Mr. Santos has taught workshops and given demonstrations including: stone lithography,
letterpress, book binding, silk screen, and photopolymer Solarplate printing. Mr. Santos
has exhibited in: New York, NY, Albuquerque, NM, Syracuse, NY, Burlington, VT,
Columbus, OH, East Jordan, MI, Auburn, NY, Portland, OR.
